Aloha kakou na hoe waʻa,
Hui Waʻa O Wakinikona (HWOW) warmly invites PNW-ORCA member clubs to join us in friendly competition on Saturday, May 23rd at Green Lake, Seattle. This will be our 27th annual running of this regatta and it will be used again by many to train and prep for the IVF 2026 World Sprints in Singapore.
Our competition will be limited to “spec” OC 6 and V1/OC1 canoes. HWOW and other outrigger clubs have generously agreed to provide and loan canoes to other clubs so more paddlers can race while limiting the amount of space needed for trailer parking. We will allow V1 and OC1 to compete. If you donʻt have a V1, you can use your OC1 to enter these 500 meter staright away events just to fill out lanes for each event.
We will only be doing straight away 500 meters for all age divisions V1/OC1 events and for OC6 events that will have World Sprint crews entered. So please note on your pre-registration WS (or WS-UO – World Sprints Unofficial) in front of your crew entered. For Example:
Event #2 Open Men - Entered Race Column - WS-2 Kikaha (World Sprint - 2 entries)
Event #11 Kupuna Master Women - Entered Race Column - WS-1 Kikaha (World Sprint - 1 entry)
Event Insert V1 Open Women - Entered Race Column - WS-1 Jane Doe (World Sprint - 1 entry}
For Multiple entries - Best to send Names and event entries for World Sprint V1
Please write your names for all entries for V1 racers and age division racing and send to Jason by May 18. See example of multiple entries in the last attachment above. If an event has no WS crews or paddlers, we will use the 250 meter course.
Please the attachments for specifics on the event. If you still have questions call me at 425-985-2333 or email to scda...@comcast.net
A hui hou -- Looking forward to seeing you at Green Lake.
Stan
