PPA Weekly Reminders and Updates

May 31, 2015

 

Important Dates:

   June 1, 2015    8th Grade Graduation at Pinellas Park High School

                     8th Graders must arrive by 5:15 PM

                     Doors open for guests at 6:00 PM

                     Ceremony begins at 6:30 PM

   June 2, 2015            Last Day of School

      Early Release at 12:00

      Prep Honor Roll Assembly at 9:00 AM

                     No Aftercare on the last day of school, please make arrangements to have all students picked up at noon. Early lunch will be served.

   No uniform required for Primary and Prep on Monday and Tuesday. As always, students may wear them if they choose.

   Please remember that ALL grade levels will be released at 12:00 so please expect delays in car line and be patient. We will do everything we can to make dismissal go smoothly.

   Please remind your child they MUST exit the building immediately and load as soon as their name is announced. We will be unable to hold the line for your child's goodbyes to friends. If your child isn't loaded by the time we have loaded the other cars, you will be required to pull over or go around the line again. It's not fair to other families to hold up the line.

   You MUST have your car tag.

   The office will close on Tuesday, June 2 at 1:00 pmto go to the staff end of year party. THERE IS NO AFTERCARE ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.  

   Please make sure your child is picked up on time! Our staff has worked incredibly hard this year and deserve some bowling.

   Lost and Found will be donated June 3 at 12:00 pm. Please have your child check it on Monday.

Pinellas Prep Summer Camp 2015!

Sign your child up for one or more of the creative camps offered by our very own PPA teachers! Have the comfort of knowing your child is being led by certified teachers while they are engaging
in fun and exciting activities. Each camp has a different theme to keep your child active and entertained this summer. All camps play organized games with the other camps in session and go on a weekly field trip.

 

WEEK ONE

Cheerleading and Gymnastics Camp

Teacher: Mrs. Schell

Grade Level: 3rd-8th

Camp Cost: $170/child (price includes a
trip to Top Dog Cheerleading)

Date: June 15-19

Are you an energetic, team player? If
so, join Cheer and Gymnastics Camp! Mrs. Schell is looking for all 3rd-8th
grade girls interested in cheerleading and gymnastics! You will be learning
cheers, techniques, chants, jumps, stunts, and tumbling to get you prepared to
be a first class PPA cheerleader! We will also be doing cheer and gymnastics
crafts! Be prepared for a week full of energy, teamwork, and fun!

 

Mr. Darin’s 5-Star Sports Camp

Teacher: Mr. Darin

Grade Level: 3rd-8th

Camp Cost: $150/child

Date: June 15-19

Join Mr. Darin for a week dedicated to
4 different sports! Together we will cover the basic fundamentals and rules of
football, basketball, baseball and golf. You will practice and even play
mini-games of each sport to reinforce the fundamentals and rules we have
learned. Get ready to improve your sports knowledge and skills in this fun
camp!

 

Candy Camp With Cumbe’

Teacher: Mrs. Cumbe’

Grade Level: 3rd-5th

Camp Cost: $150/child

Date: June 15-19

Have you ever wondered when those
sugary morsels that melt in your mouth were invented? Are you curious to know
if luscious licorices are the same in every country? Well now is your chance to
find out in CANDY CAMP WITH CUMBE’. At Candy camp we will discover history of
candy, taste test a variety of sugary sweets, make our own candy and even have
a visit from a candy shop owner. This camp is sure to be sweet, so please join
me this summer!

 

WEEK TWO

Sports Camp (1st Session)

Teacher: Mr. Miller and Mr. Youmans

Grade Level: 3rd-8th

Cost: $150

Date: June 22-26

Join Mr. Miller and Mr. Youmans for one
of our most popular camps- a fun-filled week of team sports and games! Learn
the skills and techniques of a variety of team sports and participate in games
such as Capture the Flag, Jail Break, dodgeball and more. This camp is full of
activity and is fun for everyone!

 

Basketball Camp

Teacher: Mr. Draper

Grade Level: 5th-8th

Cost: $170/child (price includes gymnasium fee)

Date: June 22-26

If you love basketball or just want to improve your skills this is the camp for you! This camp will include all the fundamentals of the game of basketball and is designed to improve your
individual skills while helping gain a better understanding of the game. Each morning we will focus on a different skill set such as ball handling, shooting, and defense. Afternoons will be filled with team drills and 5 on 5 scrimmages. We will spend most of our time at the church gymnasium PPA uses for basketball games so we can practice our skills in the A/C! This camp is designed for beginners and those who have already have experience with the game.

 

WEEK THREE

Music Making Camp

Teacher: Mr. Wickstrom

Grade Level: 3rd-8th

Cost: $150/child

Date: June 29th -July 3rd

Music camp is back by popular demand!
If you love listening to music, playing instruments or have a dream of being in
a band, this is the camp for you! Your child will be given individual and group
instruction on the piano, ukulele, recorder and drums as we learn to record and
remix the sounds we make using the computer program, GarageBand. At the end of
the week you will have your very own CD starring…you!

 

3D Art Camp

Teacher: Mrs. Wickstrom

Grade Level: 3rd-8th

Cost: $175 (price includes supplies)

Date: June 29th - July 3rd

Join the talented Mrs. Wickstrom to bring your art skills to the next level! In this club students will focus on 3D art. Students will be designing projects of their choice including paper
automatons, wooden puzzle sculptures, masks and Munny Dolls (vinyl art series figures). All of your creations will go home with you at the end of the week.

 

Soccer/Sports Camp

Teacher: Mr. Marin

Grade Level: 6th-8th

Cost: $150/child

Date: June 29th – July 3rd

Join Mr. Marin for a week of soccer and sports fun! Spend the week learning the skills and techniques needed to improve your soccer game. Scrimmage against your camp friends to test your skills and practice the techniques you are learning. Campers will also participate in
other team sports and each camper will create his or her own soccer jersey to wear during the “big game” at the end of the week!

 

WEEK FOUR

Sloppy Science Camp

Teacher: Mrs. Darnold

Grade Level: 5th-8th

Cost: $160/child (price includes
supplies)

Date: July 6th -10th

If you love to eat, experiment and love science, then this is the camp for you! In this camp we will participate in daily experiments learning science fundamentals is fun, edible ways. All of our
experiments are safe, and the best part is, we can eat them at the end! Come get a “taste” of just how fun science can be!

 

Survivor Camp

Teacher: Ms. Pizzo

Grade Level: 4th-8th

Cost: $150/child

Date: July 6th -10th

Have you wondered what it would be like
to be on a reality TV show, like Survivor? Wonder no longer! Ms. Pizzo will be
hosting one week of Survivor Camp in which you will test your team-building
skills, face some fears and compete in some crazy challenges. But don’t worry,
no one gets voted off the island here. For this camp your will need your brain,
your teammates and your energy to complete the challenges and become the
winning team!

 

Performing Arts Camp

Teacher: Mrs. Leak-Kavota

Grade Level: 3rd-5th

Camp Cost: $150

Date: July 6th -10th

Have you ever dreamed of being on Broadway? Join Mrs. Leak-Kavota’s Performing Arts Camp and you will be one step closer to being on the stage! Spend your week singing, dancing, completing theater based crafts and learning how to perform in front of an audience. You
won’t want to miss out on this “summer production”!

 

WEEK FIVE

Sports Camp (2nd Session)

Teacher: Mr. Miller and Mr. Youmans

Cost: $150

Date: July 13th-17th

Grade Level: 6th-8th

Love computers? Love video games? Well you are in the right place! This club will examine the workings of computers- from software to hardware. Students will learn basic maintenance of their machines and learn the basics of assembling a computer. Students will also
learn about what it takes to design and make a video game.
