SUN Program Volunteer Opportunity

Dear SPHR students, 

You may be interested in volunteering with SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods), which is a network of youth, parents, community businesses and organizations with the goal of providing support and resources that ensure youth academic success and community building.

Portland Public Schools (PPS) is looking for university students who are interested in volunteering with SUN Community Schools. Please see details below:

We encourage interested students to connect directly with SUN Site Managers to discuss potential placements, schedules, and site alignment.

In addition, we are currently preparing for PPS Summer Acceleration Academy (SAA) programming and could really use additional volunteer support connected to SUN enrichment activities. Having university students involved would help us expand enrichment opportunities and support for more students and families throughout the summer.

If there is also interest from students seeking experience during the instructional portion of SAA, we would be happy to explore volunteer opportunities that could align with university service-learning or volunteer credit requirements as well. SAA will run all of July M-F from 7AM-5PM with PM enrichment being the priority.
