Hello Speech and Hearing Friends!

We’re reaching out to let you know that we have a last minute opening for our upcoming event tomorrow, Sarah Bellum’s Cupcake Workshop. If you are still interested in attending the event, now is your chance!

How to claim your spot: email us at nss...@pdx.edu or respond to this email and state that you would like to attend! We will respond to confirm your spot, or to let you know if you’ve been added to the waitlist.

Here’s a reminder about the event itself:

When: Thursday, March 5th, 5-7pm

Where: 7828 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland, OR 97219

We’ve partnered with the folks at Sarah Bellum’s Bakery & Workshop to offer members a unique opportunity to learn about the bakery and its mission, meet one of their longtime bakers, and spend some time in the kitchen!

Sarah Bellum's Bakery & Workshop is a community-based functional rehabilitation program that was founded by our SPHR department's very own Dr. Rik Lemoncello. The organization’s mission is to support adults with acquired brain injuries transition back into meaningful work through baking delicious cupcakes! According to the organization’s website, they focus on developing “functional, job-ready social, cognitive, and physical skills to assist with ongoing development and rehabilitation in a functional, real-world setting”.

Additionally, Sarah Bellum’s Bakery & Workshop is currently seeking undergraduate student volunteers, so this is a great event to attend if you’re interested in connecting with the organization! For more information or to inquire about these opportunities, you can contact nss...@pdx.edu and we will put you in touch with their volunteer coordinator.

We sincerely hope to see you there!
