There’s 1-2 positions remaining now, but NV5 regularly hires waves throughout the year of 8-10 contractors as they receive projects

Location: Downtown Portland

Duration: 4 months to start

Pay: $22/hr.

 

Description:


GIS Technician

Our client, one of the largest full-service geospatial solutions providers in North America, is seeking an entry-level GIS Technician to assist in the processing and classification of remote sensing data. This role involves supporting general production efforts and ensuring high-quality results through QA/QC. You will collaborate with talented analysts using ArcPro and Microstation to identify and classify utility assets and vegetation.


Responsibilities

  • Support the efforts of Analysts and Team Leaders in QA/QC processes.
  • Visually identify blemishes or anomalies in data and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Manipulate and classify data with great attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Meet established deadlines while maintaining precision and accuracy.
  • Maintain composure and productivity in high-volume workflows.
  • Take direction from colleagues and management as needed.
  • Update and maintain accurate processing and production sheets.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • US Citizenship required due to contract obligations.
  • GIS Certification or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in progress is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Drive.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • Aptitude for learning multiple geospatial software programs and technical disciplines.
  • Ability to maintain productivity while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the flexibility to manage shifting priorities.
  • Ability to learn from mistakes and take constructive feedback.
  • Works well within a team-oriented environment.
  • Interest in remote sensing and geodetics.
  • Professional and positive demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • 2FA software requires a mobile device running Android 11.0 or iOS 15.0 or greater.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and skills in ESRI, CAD, or vector-based software.
  • Experience with Microstation and Arc is a plus.
