New Job Opportunity Alert!

Job Title: Principal Researcher/Principal Research Manager

Location: Palo Alto, Washington, DC, or Remote in the US

Salary: $140,000 - $250,000

The Organization: Learning Policy Institute

The Learning Policy Institute (LPI) employs researchers, educators, policy experts, communicators, and administrators who have a passion for ensuring that all children receive an empowering and equitable education, especially historically underserved students. LPI has offices in Palo Alto, CA, and in Washington, DC, and is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply for open positions. Positions listed are open until filled.

Learning Policy Institute leader Linda Darling-Hammond has announced that she will step down as CEO in 2025 and transition into a new position as Chief Knowledge Officer, following the successful hire of a new CEO. A national search for the next CEO is underway and is being supported by Isaacson Miller.

The Position

LPI seeks seasoned research leaders as a principal researcher or principal research manager across its major areas of focus, especially candidates with interest and expertise in the following areas, as they pertain to prekindergarten through 12th grade education:

  • School finance and resource equity, including state school finance systems and other policy areas addressing student poverty, segregation, and inequitable access to resources
  • Educator quality, including teacher and leader preparation, professional learning, and factors influencing the education workforce
  • School design for whole child education, including supports for personalization, deeper learning, social-emotional and cognitive development, and community schools
  • Assessment and accountability, including the design of systems that support deeper learning and enhance access to more equitable learning opportunities

The position is an excellent opportunity for established senior researcher leaders seeking to create policy impact though high-quality research. Researchers at LPI work on collaborative teams with research, policy, and communications staff to conduct and translate high-quality, independent research into timely and actionable ideas that can impact educational policy and practice. Senior research leaders will help develop and lead projects in LPI’s growing portfolio of work.

Warm Regards,

Leah

“The academy is not paradise. But learning is a place where paradise can be created. The classroom with, all its limitations, remains a place of possibility. In that field of possibility we have the opportunity to labor for freedom, to demand of ourselves and our comrades, an openness of mind and heart that allows us to face reality even as we collectively imagine ways to move beyond boundaries, to transgress."
