Winter 2026 Course Announcements for PACE Students

Dear new and continuing PACE students,

This is a brief update for those planning to register for Winter 2026.

The program is introducing a new course, ELP 510: Educational Policy and Leadership, into the professional core.
Below is the course description:

This course explores education policy and leadership at the intersection of K–12 and higher education, focusing on governance, finance, and equity in Oregon and the United States. Topics include state and federal policy design, resource allocation, enrollment trends, student activism, and equity issues related to race, immigration, gender, and LGBTQ+ inclusion. Using case studies and current policy debates, students will assess how leadership decisions influence access, affordability, and institutional change across public education systems.

You may fulfill the Organizational Leadership and Policy theme by registering for ELP 510, ELP 568, or ELP 550, depending on your program area of interest. Courses that you choose not to take within one or more of the four core themes may be taken as electives or applied toward a specialization in your program of study.

ELP 510: Training Methods is an updated and revised version of ELP 532 and is being offered as a four-credit course.

ELP 511: Principles of Educational Research and Data Analysis I (4 credits) was originally scheduled for Winter 2026; however, it has now been cancelled. Please consider registering for the course in Spring 2026, when it will be offered again.

Note: New and revised courses are assigned the temporary course number 510 until the university formally approves them as new courses.
