ELP 554: Philosophy of Education - Summer 2025 Instructor: Ramin Farahmandpur | Five-week intensive: June 23 - July 27

Reimagine Education Through Critical and Transformative Lenses

Explore critical, decolonial, feminist, and intersectional approaches to educational philosophy that center power, identity, knowledge, and justice.

Core Questions:

  • What counts as knowledge, and who decides?
  • How do we educate ethically in a structurally unjust society?
  • How can we center marginalized voices in transformative pedagogy?

What You'll Study:

  • Indigenous, Black feminist, queer, and critical intersectional frameworks
  • Alternative epistemologies that challenge dominant educational thought
  • Designing inclusive learning spaces that foster collective liberation

Integrated Field Experience (30 hours): No separate placement required! Complete your field work within your current job by:

  • Analyzing workplace practices through philosophical frameworks
  • Implementing course concepts in your current role
  • Reflecting on professional decisions using course readings
