LOCATION: Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU)
DURATION: 5/18/2026 to 5/22/2026
PROJECT INFORMATION: To remove Asbestos Containing Material from above the shared wall between Smith Memorial Student Union Rooms 229 and 230 the Pacific Islander, Asian, and Asian American (PIAAA) Student Center will be closed. Abatement of spray on fireproofing will be performed by NW Abatement Corporation, a State of Oregon licensed abatement contractor, and in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. General Access to PIAAA will be prohibited.
PROJECT BENEFITS: Asbestos containing material will be removed from the PIAAA Student Center.
IMPACT: There will be no access to the PIAAA Student Center during abatement. At the end of abatement hazardous material will be transported out of the building and properly disposed of.
ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: There will be no access to the PIAAA Student Center during abatement.
