LOCATION: Campus Wide, Fariborz Maseeh Hall (FMH), Millar Library (ML), Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU)
DURATION: 11/21/2025 from 6:00:00 AM to 4:00:00 PM
PROJECT INFORMATION: Contractors will be on site to modernize the elevators in ML one at a time. This includes upgrading motors, pulleys, raceways, and where relevant, the cab interiors.
This notice is specific to crane work.
PROJECT BENEFITS: Once completed, the elevators in ML will be at current standards or better, thus improving reliability and increasing the safety of all users.
IMPACT: A crane will be positioned on SW Harrison Street (between SW 10th Ave & SW Park Ave) on the Northern side of Millar Library. SW Harrison St. pedestrian egress will be impeded from the park blocks, but the food carts and housing building entrances will be accessible from the SW 10th Ave side of SW Harrison St. No vehicles will be allowed on the impacted portion of SW Harrison St. The picnic tables located at the Northwest corner of ML will be relocated. Millar Library (ML) will open late at 12:00pm.
To get into position, the crane and associated trucks will take SW Harrison St. from SW Broadway, traveling between Smith memorial Student Union (SMSU) and Fariborz Maseeh Hall (FMH) and across the Park Blocks. They will arrive between 6:00am and 7:00am. They will leave between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Exercise caution in these areas during these times. Due to the weight of the vehicles, the basement pedestrian tunnel between SMSU and FMH will be closed to everyone for the entire duration as a safety precaution.

ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: SW Harrison St. pedestrian egress will be impeded from the park blocks, but the food carts and housing building entrances will be accessible from the SW 10th Ave side of SW Harrison St.

The basement pedestrian tunnel between SMSU and FMH will be closed to everyone for the entire duration as a safety precaution.
