UPCOMING IMPACT NOTICE

FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
* * Deans, Directors & Department Chairs: Please distribute to your department personnel * *

LOCATION: Richard Maurine Neuberger Center

DURATION: 4/26 - 5/6

PROJECT INFORMATION: PSU has hired a contractor to retrofit existing lighting throughout the building to LED lighting. The contractor will start by retrofitting the existing can lights throughout the building. There will be a separate mobilization and impact notice for the other light fixtures in the building. The tentative schedule is as follows for the can light retrofit.

1st floor April 26th & 27th
2nd floor April 27th & 28th
3rd floor April 28th & 29th
4th floor April 29th
5th floor May 3rd
6th floor May 4th
7th floor May 4th
8th floor May 5th
9th floor and B1 level May 6th

If issues arise during the retrofit process, an updated impact notice will be distributed with an updated schedule.

PROJECT BENEFITS:  LED lighting is more efficient, lasts longer, and has fewer impacts on those with light sensitivity.

IMPACT: The contractor will be accessing all can light in the building throughout this phase of the project. To work on the lights, they will be setting up ladders and likely creating some noise as they retrofit the fixture. While working on the lights, they will have areas of the lighting powered down for safety reasons, but with all the other sources of light in the areas, there is not anticipated to be much of an impact on light levels where they will be working.

The contractor has Keys/card access to all spaces with can lights and will be doing so per the above schedule. For those federally regulated spaces, a PSU representative will be present and be the one providing access.

ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: While the contractor is on a ladder in some areas, users may need to wait for the contractor to move out of the way or use caution while moving around the ladders.
