DURATION: 1/19/2026 from 6:00:00 AM to 4:00:00 PM
PROJECT INFORMATION: BUILDING CLOSURE FOR TEMPORARY PLANNED ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN
As part of the Smith Memorial Union Critical Infrastructure Project, the Main Distribution Panel powering the north east section of the building will be shut-down in order to install and connect new electrical conductors.
Due to the extents of the anticipated impacts, the building will be closed from 6am-4pm on 1/19/26, which is a holiday.
PROJECT BENEFITS: To replace critical building equipment that is beyond their useful life and which will improve the efficiency and reliability of the the building's HVAC and Elevators.
IMPACT: With the exception of contractors, Facilities, and CPSO staff, building access will be shut off for building users.
Reference attached map for anticipated electrical impacts.
Refrigeration, computers, and other electronic equipment in the building that could be affected by the shutdown should be backed up and powered down in advance, and restarted once the power is restored.
ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: Building will be closed 6am-4pm. Access from adjacent buildings and skybridges will be unavailable.
