LOCATION: Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU)
DURATION: 12/12/2025 from 4:30:00 AM to 3:00:00 PM
PROJECT INFORMATION: The SMSU Critical Infrastructure Project - HVAC and Elevator Upgrades, will replace the SF-1, SF-4 and SF-12 Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems serving the east half of Smith Memorial Student Union, and modernize Elevators 6, 7 & 15. The project is scheduled to begin on 8/15, and complete in September of 2026. The first phase will demo and replace SF-4.
Upcoming construction activities:
Crane pick to lift equipment and materials onto roof.
PROJECT BENEFITS: To replace critical building equipment that is beyond their useful life and which will improve the efficiency and reliability of the the building's HVAC and Elevators.
IMPACT: See attached diagram showing impacts.
Sidewalk, and parking area on SW Broadway Ave in front of Smith will be closed 4:30am - 3:00pm. Bike lane will be re-routed, follow posted signage. SW Broadway Ave ADA entrance will be closed 4:30am - 3:00pm. Other entrances to Smith Memorial Union will be open per normal operation.
Mezzanine levels 2 & 3 underneath the crane landing area will remain closed during the lift.
ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: Accessible entrance on SW Broadway Ave will be closed 4:30am - 3:00pm. Use alternative accessible entrance, SW Montgomery pedestrian street, on north side building between Cramer Hall and the SMSU building.
