UPCOMING IMPACT NOTICE

LOCATION: Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU)

DURATION: 11/13/2025 to 11/14/2025

PROJECT INFORMATION: The SMSU Critical Infrastructure Project - HVAC and Elevator Upgrades, will replace the SF-1, SF-4 and SF-12 Heating Ventilation and Cooling systems serving the east half of Smith Memorial Student Union, and modernize Elevators 6, 7 & 15. The project is scheduled to begin on 8/15, and complete in September of 2026. The first phase will demo and replace SF-4. Upcoming construction activities UPDATED: 11/13/25 - A concrete truck and concrete pump truck will be delivered to pump concrete to the SMSU mechanical for equipment pads (see project impacts below). 11/14/25 - A boom truck will be delivered to lift materials onto the SMSU roof (see project impacts below).

PROJECT BENEFITS: To replace critical building equipment that is beyond their useful life and which will improve the efficiency and reliability of the the building's HVAC and Elevators.

IMPACT: See attached diagram showing impacts. On Thursday 11/13/25 between 5:00am - 12:00pm, a concrete pump truck will be delivered to pump concrete to pour equipment pads.On Friday 11/14/25 between 5:00am - 8:00am, a boom truck will be lifting materials onto the SMSU roof. For both impacts the Broadway main entrance, stair exit, and sidewalk will be closed at this time, except for emergency egress. Anyone requiring access to the building at these times will need to use alternate entrances at south (SW Harrison St.) or north (SW Montgomery St.).

ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: Accessible entrance on SW Broadway Ave will be closed On Thursday 11/13/25 between 5:00am - 12:00pm, and on Friday 11/14/25 between 5:00am - 8:00am. Use alternative accessible entrance, SW Montgomery pedestrian street, on north side building between Cramer Hall and the SMSU building.
