LOCATION: Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU)

DURATION: 5/18/2026 to 5/18/2026

PROJECT INFORMATION: Elevator contractor will be performing electrical work to separate the emergency control tie between Elevators 6 and 7. This maintenance is necessary to ensure the elevators can operate independently during future service work.

PROJECT BENEFITS: By separating the emergency control switches, Elevator 7 will be able to remain in service while work is being performed on Elevator 6 in the future, reducing overall downtime for building occupants.

IMPACT: Monday May 18th, 6:00am- 7:30am, both Elevator 6 and Elevator 7 will be out of service for the duration of this work. Occupants should plan to use alternate elevators or stairs during this 1.5 hour window. Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm: CESU staff will be available to provide access to the service elevator. Individuals needing access should check in with the CESU office. If pickup is needed from another floor, please call the CESU front desk, (503) 725-2663, to coordinate.

ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: Prior to buildng opening at 8:00am both Elevators 6 & 7 will be offline simultaneously between 6:30-7:30am. Access to Floors 2, 3 and 4 will inaccessible to individuals with mobility disabilities, except authorized badge and key access via Service elevators 9 & 10. Mezzanine Elevator 15 will remain open for the duration of work. If someone requires egress during shut-down and is unable to exit, they may contact CPSO at (503) 725-4407 for assistance.
