UPCOMING IMPACT NOTICE

LOCATION: Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU)

DURATION: 3/23/2026 to 3/24/2026

PROJECT INFORMATION: The SMSU Critical Infrastructure Project - HVAC and Elevator Upgrades, will replace the SF-1, SF-4 and SF-12 Heating Ventilation and Cooling systems serving the east half of Smith Memorial Student Union and modernize Elevators 6, 7 & 15.

The following work is planned for these dates, with potential impacts to users:

1. Domestic water shutdown (building-wide, 5am - 7am, 3/23)

2. Chilled water shutdown (building-wide, 7am on 3/23 until 5pm on 3/24)

3. Electrical panels 5S and PS shutdown to install new electrical panels, affecting HVAC (see attached map for impacted areas, 7am on 3/23 until 5pm on 3/24 )

4. Electrical light installation at Elevator 10 thresholds (SMSU Rooms 57, 355A, 7am-3pm on 3/24 ) No impacts to users anticipated)

PROJECT BENEFITS: To replace critical building equipment that is beyond their useful life and which will improve the efficiency and reliability of the the building's HVAC and Elevator systems.

IMPACT: 1. 5am - 7am on 3/23 - The domestic water shutdown is scheduled for prior to building opening. Users in the building at this time should avoid using domestic water plumbing fixtures.

2. 7am on 3/23 until 5pm on 3/24 -During the chilled water shutdown, no cooling will be provided to the building. If outdoor temperatures are above seasonal norms, users in the building may experience elevated temperatures.

3. 7am on 3/23 until 5pm on 3/24 - During the electrical panel shutdown, HVAC systems SF-12, EF-17, and EF-18 will be shutdown. No heating, cooling, or ventilation air will be provided to impacted areas. See attached map.

4. 7am-3pm on 3/24 - Electrical light installation in SMSU Rooms 57, 355A. No impacts to users anticipated.

ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: Signage posted will outline the closed locations and the rooms impacted.
