LOCATION: Simon Benson House (SBH), Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU), South Park Blocks (SBX)
DURATION: 2/5/2026 from 10:00:00 AM to 5:00:00 PM
PROJECT INFORMATION: Art installation for the Portland Winter Lights Festival (pdxwlf.com) will be installed in the Park Blocks and Simon Benson House on February 5th. The Festival will be held Feb 6, 7, 13 and 14 from 6-10pm. PSU's installation is a behind the scenes look at how some of LAIKA's films are created. There will be light installations at SMSU and Simon Benson House, which are designed to be viewed from the Park Blocks. The event will include free face painting, hot cider, and cocoa at our tent in the Park Blocks between SMSU and SBH. The illuminated bike ride will pass through campus on it's route on Feb 7 sometime between 7-8:30pm
PROJECT BENEFITS: PSU will be a destination for the festival
IMPACT: There will be an increase in activity in the Park blocks around the benches and stage. Impacted areas will be coned off and made inaccessible for pedestrians from 1pm - 5pm while the lights are installed in the trees via a lift.
ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: Presence of heavy equipment, along with more lights and people than normal in the Park Blocks near SMSU and SBH.
