UPCOMING IMPACT NOTICE

FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
* * Deans, Directors & Department Chairs: Please distribute to your department personnel * *

LOCATION: Campus Wide, Blackstone Residence Hall (BLKS), Indigenous Traditional Ecological & Cultural Knowledge Building (ITECK), Millar Library (ML), ML Food Cart Pod, Montgomery Residence Hall (MONT)

DURATION: 11/19/2024 to 12/27/2024

PROJECT INFORMATION: This project covers the installation of a City of Portland mandated grease interceptor. Upon completion of the installation, Millar Library food carts will be able to connect to it and dispose of their wastewater. The project will involve the temporary relocation of two food carts while the grease interceptor is being installed. At the completion of construction, currently scheduled for December 27th, each of the previously relocated food carts will be moved back to their previous location (weather dependent) to open back up for business. The cutting, removal, disposal and re-installation of sections of the existing asphalt and concrete will be required in order to get the new grease interceptor installed.

PROJECT BENEFITS: This to-be-installed grease interceptor will satisfy the City of Portland's recently mandated waste requirements for operating a food cart in the city. Which, when completed, will inevitably enable the Millar Library Food Cart Pod to remain operational.

IMPACT: On November 19th, the Millar Library Food Carts (slated for temporary relocation) will be moved. As a result, none of the Millar Library food carts will be open for business and serving food from November 19th through December 27th, weather dependent. In addition, barricades will be installed, encouraging individuals to stay out of the work zone. While the site demolition is in progress, periodic noises and vibrations may be felt in the vicinity of the project site. The same goes for the re-installation activities that can be attributed to the placement of the new concrete & asphalt.

ACCESSIBILITY IMPACTS: None
