August 25 &26, 2017 in Ono (Lebanon County)

South Central PA Grazing School

Farmer training event for all experience levels and livestock types

 

About the school: Attendees will receive training from experienced graziers and other experts, visit two successful grass-based farms (dairy and beef), attend breakout sessions for beginners and advanced graziers and have plenty of opportunity to learn from each other.

 

Who should attend: farmers interested in starting or improving their grazing system.

 

Where:

Friday night – Blue Mountain View Farm, 970 N. State Route 934, Annville, PA 17003

Saturday morning – Ono United Methodist Church, 9 Main Street, Ono, PA 17077

Saturday afternoon – Garden Meadow Farm, 2013 Yordys Bridge Rd, Annville, PA 17003

 

When:

Friday night August 25 (6 PM -8 PM) - pasture walk and field sessions followed by a social hour

Saturday morning, August 26 (8 AM- 1 PM) - classroom training including breakout sessions

Saturday afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM) pasture walk and field sessions

Hosted by Matt Bomgardner (Blue Mt View Farm) & Brent Kaylor (Garden Meadow Farm). Speakers include, George Lake (Thistle Creek Farms)/Keynote; Greg Stricker (Spring Creek Farm)/Working With Nature; Cliff Hawbaker (Hamilton Heights Dairy)/Stockpiling; Dr. Kathy Soder (K bar K Farm and USDA Pasture Systems and Watershed Management Research lab)/The Nutrition of Pastures; Ron Holter (Holter Farms)/What 100% Grass-fed Looks Like,  and more.

Cost of registration is $15 and pays for lunch and breaks on Saturday.
