Hi everyone,

Two farmer sign-on opportunities are circulating right now with deadlines fast approaching! If you are interested in stronger heat protections for farmworkers or more support for diversified farm operations (or both!), please consider following the links below to add your name.

Heat Protections for Farmworkers (DEADLINE: 1/14 @ 5pm EST)

This letter (linked here) will be submitted as official comment on OSHA's Heat Injury and Illness Prevention rule (summary fact sheet linked here). In that proposed rule, all employers with ten employees or more would be required to implement specific protocol in order to protect their staff from high heat events.

We are currently operating in an environment in which farms that undervalue worker well-being are better positioned to make a profit. We need to move toward a more level playing field for responsible employers where workplace safety is the norm for everyone. OSHA’s proposed Heat Injury Illness and Prevention rule nudges the expectations in a positive direction. By signing onto this letter, you are showing your support for safer and more equitable workplaces.
Make agricultural diversification a national priority (DEADLINE: 1/15)
Please consider joining your fellow farmers in signing a letter to the USDA Secretary Nominee Brooke Rollins, calling for her to make diversification of agricultural production a priority initiative for the Department over the next four years. As you know, there are numerous barriers facing those who wish to diversify their operations, including the need to develop new markets and infrastructure and the lack of appropriate risk management tools and technical assistance.
If you have any questions about these sign-on opportunities, please don't hesitate to reach out to pol...@pasafarming.org.

Thank you!
Lindsey

My new part-time hours! This growing season, I will be dividing my time between my Pasa position and my veggie farm. Thank you for your patience, if my email response times are a little slower than usual.
