Coppice Agroforestry: Resprout Silviculture for a 22nd Century with Dave Jacke
Presentation & Hands-On Workshop
Discover the ancient practice of coppicing—managing woody resprouts to produce renewable materials for farm, homestead, and ecosystem resilience.
This two-part workshop will explore:
  • The biology and ecology of resprouting trees and shrubs
  • Practical coppice systems and their products,
  • Concrete approaches to designing and managing woody resprouts for homestead and small farm economies
Join us for a rare opportunity to learn with Dave Jacke—one of the leading voices in ecological design and agroforestry. Since the 1980s, Dave has researched, designed, and managed agricultural ecosystems across the U.S. and beyond. He is the primary author of the landmark two-volume Edible Forest Gardens, a foundational text for forest gardeners worldwide, and a major contributor to Mark Krawczyk’s acclaimed Coppice Agroforestry.

Saturday Hands-On Workshop
📅 October 18 | 🕣 8:30 AM–5 PM
📍 Horn Farm Center, York PA
Spend the day learning directly from Dave in the field. Explore coppice biology, carbon storage, and resprout capacity, while assessing Horn Farm’s coppicable species and envisioning practical applications for your own agroforestry systems.
