Throughout 2025, my farm felt the impact of higher production costs, program terminations, and cuts to food assistance dollars, and I imagine that many of you did, too. We need meaningful policy to stabilize our economy and create a strong and fair agricultural system.

As you’ve likely seen, USDA is preparing to offer one-time aid payments to growers, but these won’t reach all farmers and are not a real solution. Later in January, Congress is considering whether to support additional farm assistance, and we want to be clear that band-aid solutions in the form of one-time payments that only reach some farms are not what we need to ensure the long-term viability of our farms. I wanted to invite you to join me and sign on to this letter calling for Congress to support:

  • Stable domestic market access for farms of all sizes

  • Support in implementing cost-saving conservation practices, and

  • Financial relief for all producers to ensure no farms are lost due to acute financial hardship

This letter is being organized by a cohort of food and farm organizations in DC, including the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, which has fought for a fair and sustainable food and agricultural system for decades. Before signing, you can read the letter in its entirety here

Can you add your farm’s name to the list before the January 19th deadline? I’d also love for you to extend this invitation to any other aligned farmers you can think of.

Thank you for considering this opportunity!

Warmly,
Lindsey

My new part-time hours! This growing season, I will be dividing my time between my Pasa position and my veggie farm. Thank you for your patience, if my email response times are a little slower than usual.
