Hello, I’m writing to announce that PA DCNR Bureau of Forestry has two job openings: a Human Dimensions Specialist and a Forest Resilience Specialist. These are both permanent positions in the Bureau of Forestry and will be part of the Rural and Community Forestry section. Please share with relevant audiences.
How to apply
Links to apply are forwarded below, open until 04/06/2025. There are multiple links to apply. If you have a forestry background, apply through the forest program specialist job classification. If you have a natural resources background, apply through that track. These positions are posted in multiple tracks to be accessible to a broader candidate pool, and the job descriptions and pay grades are the same for either track. If unsure you can apply through both tracks and will be informed which is the most appropriate for you. The ‘internal’ postings are for current DCNR employees. All other candidates, including contractors working for the Commonwealth, should apply using the ‘external’ job postings.
Background about these positions:
The mission of the Rural and Community Forestry section is to provide leadership and support for sustaining, restoring, and conserving productive forest ecosystems; valuing the economic, ecological, and social benefits of trees; enhancing rural, urban, and agricultural landscapes with trees; as well as supporting community livability. This section is made up of 3 teams: woodland stewardship which supports PA’s privately-owned forest (making up about 70% of PA’s woodlands), urban and community forestry, and watershed forestry which works on riparian buffers and lawn-to-habitat conversion. Both positions will be dynamic roles in our innovative woodland stewardship team and will collaborate with other teams in Rural and Community Forestry and the Bureau of Forestry as a whole. See job postings for descriptions of work.
Thank you,
Robbie

Both permanent positions demonstrate the investment and growth within the Rural and Community program as it aligns to the strategies and goals within the newly completed strategic plan within the Bureau of Forestry. If you have a similar vision to support the mission of Woodland Stewardship by providing leadership and support for sustaining, restoring, and conserving productive forest ecosystems; valuing the economic, ecological, and social benefits of trees; enhancing rural, urban, and agricultural landscapes with trees; as well as supporting community livability, I encourage you to learn more about either position.
