The City of Pittsburgh Food Justice Fund will distribute a total of $1.5Million in grants up to $75,000 each for projects serving city residents by increasing food security or strengthening the food system.

Free technical assistance available to help everyone with preparing budgets and applications.

Applicants must be a 501©3 non-profit or people represented by a fiscal sponsor, and have an annual budget of half-a-million dollars or less. Awardees will be selected in Fall 2025, and project funds must be spent by June 30th, 2026.

 

Projects must provide one or more of these services

    • Distributing free food/meals
    • Supporting community gardens and non-profit urban agriculture
    • Enrolling residents in public benefits (Ex. SNAP, WIC, Allegheny Go)
    • Operating farmers markets (indoors or outdoors) or farm stands
    • Offering educational programming about growing, cooking, or preserving food, nutrition, healthy living, or composting
    • Addressing issues in food waste through composting or other environmental efforts
    • Job training or youth employment in fields related to the food system”
