Hello all,

I am an aspiring farmer / homesteader living in Northwest Philadelphia. I am planning to move out of the city at the end of the year and am trying to figure out where I should go. I expect to continue renting for at least the next three years. I'd like to stay east of Michaux State Forest and south of Harrisburg for now.

I have been reading writers like Wendell Berry, Gene Logsdon, and Carol Deppe, and would like to find a place I can be involved in ongoing farming / homesteading. I currently work remotely as an accountant and would eventually like to reduce the number of hours I am sitting at a desk.

I have a small amount of gardening experience, and have been volunteering at a horse stable nearby once a week since fall 2023.

I often hear about how farmers and homesteaders are nearly overwhelmed with the amount of work they have to do. It would be great if I could establish an ongoing commitment to help out the way I have at the horse stable. I'm also interested in continuing to work with horses, and other animals as well.

If you know someone who could use a hand, or a particular place you think I could easily pick up a volunteering opportunity, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,

Seth Dunoff
