to PASA Community Board

Sankanac CSA is seeking an apprentice who's looking for hands-on practical as well as theoretical training in biodynamic agriculture. Apprentices will participate in all areas of gardening as well as the running of a 300 member CSA. Our 15 acre garden is comprised of a diverse seasonal mix of vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit and livestock including draft horses. We are strongly committed to using organic and biodynamic methods to enhance soil fertility and provide high quality food to our local community.

Sankanac CSA is embedded within Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, an intentional community that includes adults with developmental disabilities. In addition to the CSA, the village has craft worskhops (weavery, mosaic, pottery, fiber arts), an organic cafe and bakery, the Kimberton Hills Dairy, an orchard & vineyard, an apiary and many acres of woodlands.

Apprentices will receive hands-on practical training in biodynamic agriculture by working alongside our experienced mentor farmers. This will include regional farm tours and seminars as well as the possibility to join weekly study groups on biodynamics and Anthroposophy, and weekly participation in the Kimberton Hills orientation to Camphill and community life. We offer the chance for apprentices to join the Biodynamic Farmer Foundation Year training, through the Biodynamic Association, in their second year with us.

We are also currently accepting applications for apprenticeships in our raw milk dairy, as well as applications for service volunteers and interns (whose schedules are more varied).

Apprentices will have their own room in one of our "extended family" lifesharing houses, where they'll receive most of their meals as well as share some evening and weekend social time. Apprentices receive free room and board, a monthly stipend, 21 days of vacation per year plus one full day off each week, medical coverage after 3 months and access to village cars (for eligible drivers).

The village fosters a rich cultural life of festivals, music, and art and is located one hour west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the eastern United States. If interested in joining Kimberton Hills as a apprentice, please contact our Admissions Office at 610-935-3963, or by email at infor...@camphillkimberton.org, or for more information, visit our website at camphillkimberton.org.
