SURVEY INVITATION

Greetings!

My name is Tanner Rankin, and I am a PhD student at the University of Missouri, School of Natural Resources. I am working on a project to understand and test common or innovative establishment and management practices used by chestnut growers. As part of this project, I am conducting surveys with chestnut growers to understand and describe the practices they are using on-farm for establishment and management of their orchards and, importantly, their perceptions of these practices.

I am contacting you to invite you to participate in a survey. This survey aims to improve my understanding of practices being used on-farm to establish and maintain chestnut orchards, and I am interested in hearing your perspective on the effectiveness and accessibility of the practices you use. The survey will take approximately 10-20 minutes.

I understand that you’ll be taking time out of your operation to speak with me, but I hope you can benefit from the research too. The information I get from this survey will be used to create innovative treatments that will be tested in various settings to gather data on their effectiveness. As part of my work, I hope to further develop grower recommendations for establishment practices that are effective and accessible for chestnut growers throughout the Eastern and Midwestern U.S.
