Happy August, swimming Families and Coaches.
USA swimming takes August off, generally. Now that Open Water is in the mix, how do we completely let our training slip when we have an OW Championship at the end of September? We don’t.
While the pool champs are finished and most swimmers are kicking back and taking care of other things(which is important), OW swimmers are eying warm water swims as summer ripens into fall. We will be swimming together on August 24 at Aquatic Park!
If you are more adventurous and would like to join an Alcatraz boat Charter on the same day! lead by Thunder Coast Aquatics coach and OW swimmer, Morgan Filler, follow this link to register. Swim from Alcatraz, back to Aquatic Park where we will be running laps on the bouys.

This race is 9 and over. Teams are starting to plan trips to San Diego for Western Zone open water Championships!
Meet sheet for WZ OW championship swim and Jr. National qualifier
It is possible that your team might be sending it’s first WZ OW champs team to San Diego! Maybe you will be a part of it. Qualifying for this swim are 200 and above Freestyle pool times. PSL will be hosting a Block Party meet on August 23, with a 200 free focus for qualifying. Check the meet sheet for qualifying times. And Check times on USAswimming.org to see if your swimmers already qualify!
Enjoy the slow month and see you at The Cove!
