Hi,

Someone pointed out a critical mistake on the elections page: https://board.owasp.org/elections/

Who Can Vote?

OWASP Individual Members, Corporate Members, and Honorary Members registered as of the Paid Membership Deadline will have (1) vote per seat.

If you are not a member yet, we encourage you to join by the deadline, which is usually on or around September 30.

This is not correct now, as it mentions honorary members which is not according to the bylaws.

It also will not be correct after/if the new policy passes, as the vote is not per seat.

It is also inaccurate regarding the date (“usually on or around…”), as this is becomes a hard date by policy.

Fwiw, the “Eligibility Requirements for Board Candidates” is also not accurate, with regards to the existing requirements and type of membership (clarified in the new policy). The By-Laws references are also not correct. Likewise, if/when the new policy passes, there will be a set of new requirements to qualify…

Of course I am not concerned about applying the new policy rules to this current election, but as long as we need to fix the problems for now (eg honorary members), I suggest thinking ahead for when this page gets copy/pasted to next year…

Thanks!

Avi D

I've had to bring back the original text of the Elections policy as the current bylaws and Elections page rely on it existing. I will update the policy header to indicate that there is a new policy under discussion, but this one is still the valid policy.

thanks,
Andrew

Thanks Andrew.

But the new policy page still shows the proposed policy, and I’m not seeing the old page with the original policy? (Btw the elections policy has a broken link to /legal/ subsite)
