While you are correct that the bylaws are silent, IMO this absolutely must be in a public meeting.
In the past, we used to have a preliminary private meeting, where are all the arguments are hashed out, and then the official voting in the public meeting.
Tbh I don’t think this worked great either, eg 2023 kinda proved that…
Bottom line, I think the vote for officers should be in a public meeting – and now that you raise it, I would strongly urge the next board to amend the bylaws to this effect, specifically Clause 6.3, to specify that this would be a public meeting.
