Hi,

Thanks all for the great discussion on this last week.

There is definitely more to work on here, there are definitely areas that are lacking consensus.

I went through the document and cleaned up all the tracked changes, to make it easier to see what the final policy would be and to highlight the discussions in comments. (You can compare to the original / current policy here: https://policy.owasp.org/operational/election)

Please do take a look again, review, leave suggestions, make comments, and see the responses. I think I did already respond or action all the existing comments (except my own).

(Btw, if you are interested in the rabbithole discussion on the voting and counting methods, there are some informative links in comments there. Or, shortcut you can watch these excellent videos by CGP Grey explaining all the alternatives here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLej2SlXPEd37YwwEY7mm0WyZ8cfB1TxXa )

It would be great if we could grind through these over the next week or two, at most, and have another discussion about any remaining sore issues.

I’m open to a special meeting for this if you’d like.

Cheers,

Avi D

Subject: Board Elections policy

Hi folks,

I just shared with you a significantly revamped version of the Board Elections policy.

You can see that here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-Ta4ibbTMW96qFfatr3t3a2E1MQpHXMjZzVR0yqo56o/edit?usp=sharing

Apologies again for the delay.

Please take a few minutes to glance at this, while I don’t expect to be voting on this at the Board meeting tomorrow, I would like to have an informed discussion.

In the meeting, I will highlight the major changes, and try to address some of the major objections (if any). I did also leave a couple of small comments for wdyts.

I would also like to discuss (if we have time) the timeline for applying this version, I believe this will greatly strengthen the organization, drive better representation, and possibly even encourage greater voting participation due to stronger results. (One can be optimistic at times.)

Cheers,

Avi D
