install from flashdisk

to OviOS Linux

Hi OviOS fans,

I would really like to try OviOS.

I have tried downloading 3.11 from Google Drive and SourceForge. I flashed it the iso to flashdisk. It boots but it gives out error:

FATAL: Boot medium not found.

Could you please give me hints on where I went wrong?

hi Roby

your device is most probably not recognized properly by the initramfs

In that case, if you know what the device is populated as in /dev/ by the kernel drivers you can boot with the option bootfrom=/dev/yourdevice

how can you figure out what the device is populated as?

you can use a CD or usb to boot into a live image of any linux distro, including OviOS and run a tool like lsblk or fdisk to determine how the devices are seen by the kernel
