Hi Guys,

My first post on the group, so wanted to say Hi to everyone before I jump to the question/request for advice.

Little bit of background:
I'm planning a migration from FreeNAS over to OviOS. As my setup is virtualized I need to be able to automatically shut down guest OS via ACPI call or guest-agent in case of power failure UPS will send a signal to host to shut down. I want to avoid forcibly stopping guest system.
I understand that in a server room dropping accidental ACPI signals might be beneficial, but for my use case handling them or a qemu-guest integration would be desirable.

I've seen in the docs that in order to install additional package you should compile it. I get it and actually was trying last week to compile qemu-guest-agent and got int some dependency issues. and dropped for now. Tried to compile acpid as this would also solve the issue, but stopped at ./configure. In both cases I would need to compile additional dependencies to get it working. Definitely achievable, but I was wondering if there is a pacman repo that I could just use to install what I need and get an easy way out of dependency hell ;).

If there is a better way of doing it?

Thanks in advance for any responses,
Marcin

Hi Marcin

thanks for your message.
If you want to, you can use pacman packages with OviOS Linux, but you might get into a dependencies hell :) because OviOS is only installed with the basic packages to build a storage OS.
but we can build for you the required packages.
Shoot us an email at o...@ovios.org with what you need, happy to help :)
