Hi,

I've been using commandbox on Linux and Mac. Now I'm on Windows 10. I can't get it be called globally from the command line.
Does anyone use Commandbox on Windows 10? I added the path to the executable in my system path like I used to on Windows 7 but
it does nothing when I call box from the command line now. Says unrecognised. I'm sure it's something simple, but if anyone can walk me through
it greatly appreciated.

Thanks

More specifically

I have box executable at C:\commandbox\box (Which I ran to initialize and create .CommandBox)
Edited Environmental variable Path by appending C:\commandbox\box

From command line typing box does nothing. I also restarted machine to make sure PATH was updated.

To clarify, is there a folder called "box" in there?  In other words, is the full path to the binary

C:\commandbox\box.exe

or

C:\commandbox\box\box.exe

I don't have a Windows 10 machine and the free Windows 10 upgrade doesn't work on my Windows 7 box :/

Thanks!

Hi,

C:\commandbox\box.exe

You have to get your free upgrade by July 29th:) FWIW, I had Win 10 upgrade on a DVD so I didn't have to use the automated upgrade process.
I also upgraded from 8. I'm thrilled because it's working fast and haven't had any problems.

It looks like you should add "C:\commandbox" to your path then.

I've tried the Windows 10 upgrade about 20 times and it fails with some stupid generic error code every time.  It also downloads all 30,000 gigs of data every time too. I've spent way too much time trying to get it to work.  I think it may be related to the fact that I replaced notepad.exe with another binary a while back so Windows is failing some integrity check.  I don't know how to get the original notepad.exe back though since I replaced it in all locations.  shrug

Thanks!

I say give it one more try... Burn an ISO - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

I don't know if you only have one laptop/machine but I would choose the clean install anyways and reinstall all your apps and have a nice fresh setup.

If you have like 5 years of all your stuff on your only machine then I can see why you wouldn't want to do that. Also, this number 800.642.7676 actually gets you to someone who will help you get past your upgrade errors. I feel your pain, I've been there before, but this new win 10 machine is really nice!

It works. I upgraded to the latest windows 10. The newest verstion has a nice path editor where each entry is line by line. I re-added c:\CommandBox\ and it works.

Thanks
