Hi there,
Do any clubs use direct transfers to bank accounts for their event prepayments rather than PayPal or any of those other services?
If so how does it work for you?
If not, why not?
Thanks. I do almost all my personal banking by bank transfer, haven't written a check in over a year. Do not like paying those entry fee extras. I bet a lot of others don't like it either.
Thanks for any information you can share.

OCIN uses Event Reg and PayPal for all of our event registration.   The fee that the participant pays (an even dollar amount) includes the small percentage that the club loses to PayPal, so they don’t get any of those annoying add-on service charges that come with services such as Run Sign Up.   The participant can tie PayPal to their bank account if they choose, but can also just use a credit or debit card without signing up for PayPal.

The biggest negative of Event Reg is the amount of data every for each participant which is fine for individuals, especially if they have an OUSA account to auto-fill their info, but is a pain for coaches who want to enter a whole team of students/cadets (as you, Gord, get for most of your SOAR events).   I’ve been pushing Vido for a long time to add a capability to upload a spreadsheet of entries - that would so greatly simplify the process for JROTC, Scouts, and other large youth groups.

CVOC accepts Zelle payments which are fee free bank to bank transfers.  Participants just look up our account via our email address.

Alec, do you know how you are using Zelle? We get many requests for Zelle at RMOC but we have a business bank account and our bank does not allow Zelle with a business account. I think Zelle is attached to a phone number, is that right?

Thanks,

FLO has used Zelle for honor-system payments for use of our permanent and semi-permanent ROYO courses, with some success.  We have also used it for payments/travel reimbursements inside the zone of "club business".
