As many of you know, thanks to the diligence of Blaik Mathews the orienteering clubs in Florida have become great fans and users of Livelox, a program that tracks and records the route of orienteers at any given event.

Livelox presents us with three important tools.

·         Of course we can display our routes after an event. So what you might say, so does Route Gadget and Quick Route.

·         Because the participants can have their routes tracked via their smartphone Livelox also allows us, the event organizers, to keep track of orienteers who might be going way off course, get them called and turned around. With the hundreds of young participants we serve, that is happening quite regularly.

·         But wait! There’s more! With the use of one or more large screen monitors, sometimes a large screen projector, we can give the world champs/ world cup experience at a local event as we display for the folks in the event arena the icons of their friends and family traipsing through the park.  Have you done that at any of your events?  Try it. I was surprised and you will be too, how much parents and friends like to watch the young orienteers – well their figures – moving through the park.

We have an event coming up this Sunday. It is the Suncoast Score Orienteering Championships. We currently have 230+ orienteers signed up to participate and probably over half will be being recorded by Livelox. The first start is at 10 AM. We are not using a mass start, but the start will be compressed to give a pseudo-mass start fee. You know the excitement!

So, at 1030 we will be opening our Livelox for the world to see and you are invited to tune in to see how it goes, to see if you would like to add live tracking to your events, to see what orienteering is like in Florida.  There is nothing there now but come Sunday at 10 30 Eastern Standard Time this site will come to life.

https://www.livelox.com/Events/Show/148849/20250302_DeverPark and we would be excited to have you join us virtually.

As the event unfolds the results will be uploaded to:

That is worth a view in itself as again Blaik has designed programs to automatically post the individual results and update team results on the go.

Tune in and enjoy.
