All, sorry I can't make it to the WOW event.
Orienteering is a unique sport. THE HUMAN BODY WAS MADE FOR ORIENTEERING. Running is great, but it doesn't require a lot of critical, in-the-moment cognitive processing. Chess is awesome, but it in no way challenges our visuo-locomotor coordination AND aerobic capacity. Orienteering is running full-out while playing speed chess with the planet.
From a personal perspective, I can think of only two things I love and enjoy more than orienteering: night diving on a coral reef, and one other o-thing. Sadly, my knees are fini, so I will never again punch a control. Similar to my good friend who introduced me to the sport way back then, Peter Snell, God rest him.
ANYWAY, the only other thing I can say about orienteering is ... WOW!
And this:
Enjoy!
