Good morning Judges, Chairs, and Commissioners, and partners,

On behalf of co-chairs Gordon and Henslee, thank you to all of you who were able to join our steering committee on Monday.

The Public Safety and Veterans Affairs Steering Committee took the following actions:

·       Approved a motion to table the discussion on the Public Safety Workforce and Stabilization Act of 2024 (PERS Package) until February Steering Committee meetings. Commissioners are encouraged to talk with their staff and determine individual county impacts before our next meeting.

Members of the committee heard updates from:

·       Assistant Director Jeremiah Stromberg, DOC, on the SB 1145 Workgroup

·       OACCD President Nate Gaoiran on the Community Corrections 2024 budget request and the association’s work on a new strategic plan The community corrections funding request one-pager is attached to this email. If you would like to add your county logo to the document, please send it to me.

·       The Oregon County Veteran Service Officer Association and the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs.

You will be able to access a recording of the meeting and other materials here.

The Public Safety and Veterans Affairs Steering Committee will next meet on Monday, February 5th, at 10:40am, or immediately following the Joint Meeting of the PS and HHS committees. Calendar invites to follow.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments.
