AOC Day Follow Up: Public Safety and Veterans Affairs

Thank you to those who participated in AOC's Public Safety and Veteran's Steering committee on Monday, February 5th. The committee took the following actions which were ratified by the Legislative Committee:

• Support of SB 1541 which adds three new circuit court judges to three different judicial districts
• Support HB 4140 which stabilizes funding for Children's Advocacy Centers
• Support SB 1587 which adds limited liability protections for Children's Advocacy Centers
• HB 4045: Public Safety Workforce Stabilization Act:
• Remain neutral on the addition of Elected District Attorneys into the Police and Fire PERS Program
• No position on lowering retirement age of OPSRP Police and Fire to 55
• Oppose the creation of a new PERS category for hazardous positions

The next meeting of the Public Safety and Veterans Affairs Committee will be on Monday March 11th at 10:40 am.
