AOC Day Follow up: Public Safety Steering Committee

Good morning,
On behalf of Co-chairs Gordon and Henslee, thank you to all who participated in the AOC Public Safety Steering Committee on Monday, October 9th. You can find a full recording of the meeting here.
The Steering Committee heard updates on relevant legislative day committee hearings, expected legislative concepts for the 2024 session, and discussed AOC’s 2024 Public Safety Principles and Priorities. The committee’s recommended language of both the principles and priorities were approved by AOC’s Legislative Committee. The final versions of both are attached.
Community Corrections Funding
There was a request from the committee for additional information from the Community Corrections Directors' Association on custodial beds, and the overall community corrections funding formula discussion. Nate Gaoiran provided additional information which is attached to this email.
The committee discussed the new workgroup being formed by the Department of Corrections under Representative Kropf’s leadership to work on the community corrections funding formula. AOC will have two commissioner seats and one staff member on this workgroup. Any AOC members with interest in serving on this workgroup should reach out to me ASAP.
OLCC Home Delivery
Shannon Hoffeditz from OLCC provided the group with an update on Home Delivery in Oregon. Interested individuals can participate in the next rulemaking committee meeting occurring 10/11/2023 at 1pm.
