Congratulations to the 43 applicants who have been approved for the American FFA Degree in 2026 (pending the National FFA Board of Director's approval at their August meeting).
The majority of applications were submitted by the early deadline allowing the state review committee time to offer suggested corrections and allowing National FFA to offer corrections. Only three applications submitted by the early deadline were sent back by National FFA and all three resubmitted a corrected version that has been approved.
Additionally, all applications submitted for the late deadline that were approved by the state committee have been approved by National FFA.
This is a significant compliment to the review committee; Kyle Senner, Kellan Standley, John Park, and Casey Willmore for reviewing all applications (many multiple times) and offering helpful feedback for improvement. My thanks to these outstanding ag teachers.
43 approved applications in 2026 is a 65% increase in American Degrees for Montana over last year and marks the largest number received since 2017 when there were 47 degrees bestowed.
Hopefully we can continue to see increased growth moving forward. Most states target a higher percentage of their state degrees to go on to the American Degree. Our neighbors have similar total FFA membership numbers and similar State FFA Degrees awarded with the following American Degree totals in 2026; Wyoming 50, Idaho 77, South Dakota 52). Montana students certainly have the same quality SAEs as our neighbors. It would be great to grow our numbers.
