Hi there!

My name is Megan Barton, and I recently joined Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, as the Emerging Agriculture Technology Instructor. I wanted to reach out about an exciting opportunity I was hoping you could pass along to the ag teachers in your state for their recent graduates and other students who may still be deciding what their next step looks like after high school! Or just to keep me and LCCC in mind as you move through your next year!

LCCC's Emerging Agriculture Technology (EAT) Associate of Applied Science program is designed for students who enjoy agriculture, technology, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. This program prepares students for careers where agriculture and technology intersect through training in precision agriculture, data management, automation, GPS guidance systems, sensors, drones, equipment technology, and other emerging technologies that are shaping the future of agriculture.

One of the things that makes LCCC unique is that students don't have to give up the activities they love after high school. Along with earning a degree, students have opportunities to continue building their skills, competing, and staying connected to agriculture through programs such as:

• Rodeo
• Ranch Horse
• Livestock Judging
• Livestock Fitting & Showing

Whether students want to continue competing or simply stay involved in the agricultural community, these opportunities provide valuable leadership, teamwork, and industry experiences while they earn their degree.

On a personal note, LCCC played a tremendous role in my own journey. After graduating from high school, I attended LCCC, where I participated on the Livestock Fitting and Showing Team and became actively involved in campus life. The education, mentorship, and experiences I gained at LCCC opened doors that led me to earn my bachelor's degree, become an agriculture educator, advise FFA chapters, and now return to LCCC as an instructor.

I can truly say that LCCC helped shape my career and my passion for agricultural education. I am excited to help today's students discover the same opportunities, relationships, and experiences that had such a positive impact on my life.

Our Fall 2026 semester begins Monday, August 24, and we are still accepting students! If you have recent graduates—or even former students taking a gap year, exploring different options, or reconsidering their plans—who may be interested in agriculture and technology, I would love the opportunity to connect with them.

If you have a student who would like to learn more about the Emerging Agriculture Technology program, please have them complete LCCC's Request Information form and select Agriculture & Equine as their program of interest. This will allow me to personally reach out, answer questions, and help them learn more about the program rather than their information going through a general inquiry process.

Students coming from outside the Cheyenne area also have the option to live on campus. LCCC offers residence halls, meal plans, and a welcoming campus community, making the transition to college convenient and affordable.
