Hello State Ag in the Classroom Coordinators,

The Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) has a grant program for teachers to purchase supplies and equipment for use in bringing soil science into their classrooms. We’re hoping you might have a mechanism to let your teachers know about this opportunity.

If you’re not familiar with our organization, we are a scientific society of 5500+ soil scientists around the world. Within SSSA, we have a hard-working K-12 Outreach Committee that supports our www.soils4teachers.org [soils4teachers.org] website, develops activities and materials for the classroom, participates in NSTA (including a workshop), contributes to the Earth Science Week event, and much more.

Below is a ready-made promo.

We appreciate anything you can do to let teachers know about this opportunity and please reach out with any questions.

Thank you for considering,

Susan

1. Bring Soil Science to Life: New Grant Opportunities for Educators!

Are your soil science lessons limited by your lab supplies? We want to change that.

A recent survey showed that while teachers want to dive deeper into soil science, soil physics, chemistry, and biology, the lack of equipment often holds them back. The Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) and the Agronomic Science Foundation (ASF) are stepping in to provide the resources you need to move from theory to hands-on discovery.  Here are the particulars.

  • Who: 10 Educators per year.
  • What: Up to $750 for one-time supplies or permanent equipment.
  • Why: To help students discover the vital role soil plays in our global ecosystem.
  • Key Dates: May 15, 2026: Proposal deadline and June 10, 2026: Awardees notified
  • Application Link [docs.google.com]

Help your students gain a deeper appreciation for the ground beneath their feet and inspire the environmental leaders of tomorrow.  Use these funds to support your own curriculum or to bring lessons from Soils4Teachers.org [soils4teachers.org] to life!
