Engage the Range: A Rangeland-Science Workshop for 7–12 Educators

Winnett ACES and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) invite 7th-12th grade educators to apply for a 2.5‑day experiential learning workshop in Winnett, MT, August 3-5, 2026.

This workshop is designed for educators interested in ready-to-use, standards-aligned lessons on rangeland ecology and food waste that can be easily integrated into their classrooms. This hands-on workshop combines classroom learning with field-based instruction, including ranch visits, soil and compost lessons, food waste audits, and more. Educators will have opportunities to work directly with local ranchers during field days and connect with peers through interactive field and classroom activities.

The workshop begins Monday evening, August 3rd (arrival day) and concludes by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 5th.

Participants will receive:

  • 15 OPI renewal credits

  • Lodging in Winnett

  • All meals and instructional supplies

  • Support for implementing lessons during the Fall 2026–Spring 2027 school year including standards aligned curricula, supplies, and technical assistance

This workshop has 15 spots available and is open to both formal and non-formal 7-12 grade educators. No prior experience with rangeland science education is required. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to educators from Eastern and Central Montana. Cost to attend is free!
