Hi
As Javier said we have thousand of different task where we can choose/care about and we need to decide.
In my opinion this is the First meetup so we should try to have some basic talks and some other more "spectacular" :)
Seems that in Berlin there are no others group JUST for UX so i would suggest for start, to do a talk about UX and UI in general (a lot of people have no idea what's the difference and IF there is a difference)
And later another one.
We should understand which target probably will come in order to understand what the ppl would be interest in.
Grid? I really like. Attach with resposive design.
I found really interesting the role of designer/UX experts are fix in a Company or in Agile develop in general.

Taking from Javier's list i really like:
- A brief introduction to some principles like the golden ratio / the Fibonacci sequence and also non-perfect techinques that can make your design more or less organic or rigid
- icon-design
Common ways of applying layer styles to achieve UI element styles in PS (and for example different states for buttons or boxes, and how you can use CSSHat to take this to CSS)

And i would like to understand better:
- Non-destructive techniques in PS

Also i would ask to a friend if he is interest in give a talk, he is very good in this kind of stuff :)

Hey guys,

what I suggest is to explain, as a first topic, the difference between UI, UX and Visual Design
and why it's important to consider good design practice when you build a digital product.

Topics for UI beginners:
- principales like golden ratio/fibonacci
- grids
- wireframing

Topics fo UX beginners:
- user research (an introduction)
- persona (an introduction)
- userflow

Actually there's an interaction design meetup here in Berlin but it's just in german http://booost.it/
I know one of the guy that gave a talk for the first meetup, maybe he could be interested to join us.

I found a guy that is interest to partecipate at designer meetup as speaker, or rather to partecipate at the Ux discussion.
I already show him the 3 topics at he really likes them!

Did you find someone else?

I'll be preparing a talk on design principles with some of the topics proposed. For the rest we're still looking for speakers.

great, so if we could find a couple more UI or UX designers, we could have a little panel discussion!
also then we just need someone or people who are interested to cover:
photoshop vs css and using csshat!

Sorry, i understood you would give these 3 topics and call some designers for discuss on it.
So no talks. That what i explain to that guy.
Should i instead told him to prepare a talk?
Or we should wait to find a another designers for make these panel discussion?

Well, the CSSHat thing is just knowing that the tool is there, as the use is really simple. This could be mixed with the PSD techniques to create UI elements, how to manage the layer fx and tricks to achieve proper bevels and shadows to aid affordability. But it also falls into PSD theory.

I just prepared a table of contents for my slideshow with what I'd like to dig into. Keep in mind that this is a lot of theory, It's meant to be  a basic explanation from where the people can continue investigating or studying if they're interested.

The list of contents can be found here:

My plan is to explain faster the first part (Gestalt), giving some examples of where to find this "in the wild" (in different websites, common UI patterns and / or applications). Then dig a little bit more in each of the topics afterwards providing bibliography to be able to continue afterwards.

The next step will be start creating the slideshow.

Wow that's seems very good to me.
I'm just worry that is too much and you will need to go through all these interesting stuff too fast leaving people with too many information. But that's may dipends also how you will make the slide.
Just remember that a Talk should be at most 25 min including the questions.
for the rest i looking forward for the slides! :)

p.s. This week end i'm not in Berlin so i could not come again to the MiniHack, what do you think to come to our breakfast meeting on Thursday?
Cheers

Actually I was worrying about the same thing. That it could be too much, what means that I should go faster through the different topics. For example, with the Gestalt part, the idea is to explain each principle showing schematic examples (using basic shapes) so they can be understood, and then showing examples of good and bad usage in UI design. I guess that that alone will take some time.

I'll try to go on with it and see how much content is OK to fit and, if there is content remaining, adjust the content and leave the remainder for another (or more) potential session adding a few more things to the themes (color theory for example)

Hey Javi,

ya maybe focusing on one area is good for now. if we have these meet ups regularly-- and it would be great if we did, i think theres a lot of interest here!-- then
you will have plenty of opportunities in the future to cover all the things you are interested to teach! better to get a little more in-depth in one topic
than to cover many topics very briefly. i think we will get more out of it if you dig deep into one or two sections only.
But either way having too much material to cover is better than having not enough:)
thanks so much-- in advance!-- for sharing your knowledge!
can't wait for the meetup!:)

lets be on the lookout for the photoshop vs css speakers and post the meetup in the coming days!
if anyone else reading this thread knows of people who might be interested in presenting on this topic, get in touch!

cheers,rachel

Yey! We are awesome!!
Unfortunatly i could not make it tomorrow cause i'm out of town this week end.

So for sum up we said:
1. Javi talk (25 min with questions)
2. short introduction (less than 10min) from one of this designer about "what Ux and Ui are"
3. start panel discussion.

What we miss:
Moderator.
I hear that you Rachel are very good in it. :) just i was thinking that another designer will be better. I really would like to do but i ve no experience at all so maybe we can prepare the question together and after you will make it(if you like)

Also we should make a video of it and share on you tube later. It will be awesome!!

If you want guys we can meet monday or at the BG for organize the last things. Otherwise we just keep going with email :)

Ps rachel it should be nice to collect all the designers email and send them a sum up email on monday. Do you habe the email of those designers?

Schöne wochenend younge :)
