Dear all,

What should I look for to fix whatever goes wrong with WIN64A configuration of 4.1.0, when it went just fine for previous releases?
(I'm sad I could not find time to properly test build the 4.1 beta and report such a thing earlier).

All the source tree copied to some \osrc directory.
Building from some pristine (empty) \obuild directory.
Nothing new, my recipe for at least these last two years.

perl \osrc\Configure VC-WIN64A --openssldir=C:\ProgramData\somedir no-apps no-tests no-deprecated no-module no-tls1 no-tls1_1 no-autoload-config no-makedepend

Configuring OpenSSL version 4.1.0 for target VC-WIN64A
Using os-specific seed configuration
Created makefile.in
Created makefile
Created include\openssl\configuration.h
Trying to create ..\osrc\apps\include\configuration.h.in.new: No such file or directory at configdata.pm line 30955.

I have had a look around line 30955 in the configdata.pm file in \obuild, but I must confess Perl is quite remote to me, it only crosses my keyboards when compiling a new build of OpenSSL libraries. :)

If you have some hint, I'll try to take it on from there.

Oh, it looks like it's related to my use of "no-apps" configuration option. I use that for this specific build, because I keep only the apps from the static build, not those out of the shared build. So it simply compile a bit quicker.
Just tested by removing my option "no-apps", and the configuration looks fine. I'll now test the build itself.

Hi Olivier,

It seems like you don't have an apps\include directory and the configuration tries to create a file even with no-apps defined.
Can you please try this patch if it works for you? This makes the app header file creation conditional on apps being enabled.

Indeed, thanks, this change fixes it cleanly. It is valuable when building out of a different (initially empty) directory than the source directory.
