Logistics

This group is only for notifications on the monthly calls. There will be three notifications a month:

One notification at the beginning of the month with the IG call date, time, agenda, and logistics.
One reminder a few days before the call.
One notification directly after the call with a link to notes from the call and a link to where conversation can continue on our forums.

There may be occasional additional notifications for necessary information about the interest group, but we will keep these as limited as possible.

What is the OSSci Reproducible Science interest group?

The "Reproducible Science" interest group within OSSci is focused on addressing the challenges of enhancing the reproducibility of scientific research through open source solutions. The main objectives of the group include:

Advocacy for Reproducible Practices: Championing the use of reproducible research practices within the scientific community, emphasizing the importance of open source tools in achieving reproducibility.
Building Reproducible Tools: Encouraging the development and adoption of open source software designed to facilitate reproducible research. This could include tools for data analysis, version control, computational environments, and document creation.
Educating Researchers and Developers: Providing education and resources on best practices for conducting reproducible research, understanding the barriers to reproducibility, and how to overcome them with open source tools.
Fostering Collaboration: Creating an open platform for scientists, developers, educators, and advocates to discuss, collaborate, and share knowledge related to reproducible research. The aim is to bridge gaps between different stakeholders, promoting synergy in their efforts.
Policy Advocacy: Pushing for policies that encourage or require reproducibility in scientific research, stressing the role of open source tools in facilitating reproducible research.

As with all OSSci interest groups, the exact scope and activities of the "Reproducible Science" group are driven by its members and leaders, with OSSci providing support to facilitate its operations and reduce the workload for its leaders.
