Hi all,

I wanted to update the community on the status of VOLTHA 2.4.

As you know, we did a code freeze on June 30th, and tagged/branched the various component repos. At that point we entered a 2-3 week QA cycle where we create regression testing jobs for the release, identify and resolve remaining bugs, and complete test automation stories for the release features.

For example, in the last release (VOLTHA 2.3), the code freeze date was March 24th, while the release date was April 12th.

This time, as well, we are going through a similar cycle.
However, an additional wrinkle is that a week before code-freeze the operators informed us that they would like to get an upgrade of Kubernetes and Helm as soon as possible, for downstream project needs.
The SEBA/VOLTHA TST as well as the ONF team felt that it is better to include this upgrade as part of VOLTHA 2.4, instead of releasing 2.4 and turning right around and doing a minor release with the upgrade.
We have outlined a procedure for this upgrade, and will be starting this work soon.
It does however mean that 2.4 release will be delayed.

In the meantime, master has been open since July 6th for new patches, and planning for VOLTHA 2.5 has started.

Stay tuned ...

Thanks
Saurav
