Hello SD-RAN Dev community

I would like to install RIC with OAI nFAPI emulator into kubernetes cluster.
The server run using CentOS and already have kubernetes cluster.
So, I can't using sdran-in-a-box method.

I have installed RIC, enabled xApp with ran-simulator using sdran-helm-chart successfully.
I would like to try onos-rsm xApp, based on the documentation onos-rsm only support with whitebox LTE or OAI nFAPI emulator. I can't find setup information beside this

How to migrate the sdran-in-a-box method into helm way?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dian,

As you can see the doc, RiaB does not support CenOS: https://docs.sd-ran.org/master/sdran-in-a-box/docs/RiaB_Prerequisites.html

And even we did not test SD-RAN on CentOS.

I highly recommend that you deploy all on Ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04 with RiaB.

Thanks,
Woojoong.

Hi Woojoong,
Thanks for the answer,

I can't replace the current OS, because there are another application that already deployed into kubernetes.
Maybe, I'll migrate the apt equivalent command into yum command if possible.
But, what happen if I use sdran-in-a-box method installation to server that already have kubernetes cluster?

Hi Dian,

Unfortunately, RiaB does not support deploying Helm chart onto the existing K8s clusters.

As you can see the doc, basically RiaB is to create a SD-RAN test environment from installing K8s to deploying Helm charts.

It should be running on the clean Ubuntu 18.04/20.04.

Otherwise, it should not work.

If you do want to deploy OAI nFAPI emulator, I recommend you to deploy RiaB on the Ubuntu first and then see how it works.

Once you understand all about the network connectivity and configurations, you can manually deploy OAI nFAPI emulator on the existing cluster and configure network parameters.

Thanks,

Woojoong.

Hi Woojoong,

Thank you so much for answering all my questions.
I'll look for another machine then install it with a clean Ubuntu box.
After I figure out the workflow and configuration, then I'll deploy into the existing Kubernetes Cluster.

Sincerely
