ONOS with Virtual Switch

Hi all,

I have already ran the ONOS with Mininet on Ubuntu 22. Next up, I am wondering if I can use the same setup to control virtual switches (basically a network of Ubuntu terminals). I would like to know the steps, if anyone knows how to do it?

Hi Babis and ONOS Community,

So I created a topology, with the help of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhk7y7mYI6s Now I want that OVS Switch created hence, should connect to my ONOS Controller on the same system. I tried doing so, but ping from VRF1 is not working even after activating the forwarding rule.

Note: I opened ONOS on localhost 127.0.0.1

Yes you can do that. You can install OpenVswitch in Ubuntu. Alternatively, there is an official openvswitch docker image so you can deploy a virtual switch directly using containers.
